The Fantastic Argoman (1967)

Fun, tongue-in-cheek super hero/spy spoof/caper film. Roger Browne plays Argoman, whose superpowers include strength, psychic ability, and telekinesis. Since he's a suave, debonair playboy, he also likes to romance ladies. There's one catch: if he sleeps with a woman, he loses his powers for six hours. He and the villainous Queen of the World share a bed and a fabulous costume sense. Naturally, Argoman has a loungey score. Great fun.
This movie is a philosophy of life: "live and take what you really want". A CAMP classic of maximum proportions, which ruled the world in the late sixties, conquering all the known B-movies markets. Sir REGINALD HOOVER/ARGOMAN is the greatest, coolest and meanest super-hero/anti-hero ever been.
A wild mix of the Batman series and thirty years of US comic culture, Euro pulp villainy a la Fantomas and Judex, self-referential `masked superhero' genre goofs on Diabolik and Superargo, exploding 60s pop-art cinema, James Bond recycling and fertile Italian filmic cross-pollination, all wrapped up in a cut-rate package with a yellow body stocking.

Axe/Kidnapped Coed (Blu-ray + CD)

AXE: A Low budget, dark and gritty rural film about 3 criminals who murder and terrorize their way through the backwoods of the Carolina's and find themselves hiding from the police in an old isolated farmhouse where they meet Lisa, a young girl who lives alone with her paralyzed grandfather. She was young and beautiful. She was innocent and mysterious and She wielded an AXE. This is HER story of revenge and survival For a low budget exploitation horror film, AXE really succeeds in creating a terrifying atmosphere for suspense and mystery. The horror and gore might be on the mild side, but when it appears, it's effective and rightfully disturbing. The acting ranges from raw talent to dreadful, but it seems to fit rather realistically in the backwood Carolina setting. Jack Cannon and Lesile Lee provide the strongest performances with Lisa being the true stand-out talent. It's sad that she gave up acting after only one film, her talent really shines bright in this forgotten classic. Yes, this movie has a slow pace and feels rather drawn out at times, but it makes up for it in the clever photography and over-all story. It will never win any awards, but it's certainly worth the time spent for any true student of film and exploitation films of the late 70's. NOTE OF INTEREST: This film was banned in the UK and labeled among the Video Nasties for several years before finally being released in it's complete uncut version. After viewing, one might wonder why it received such harsh treatment as it's content is rather tame.....but still very effective.

Zombie High (Scream Factory) (DVD / Blu-Ray Combo)

Zombie High (Scream Factory) (DVD / Blu-Ray Combo)

The incredible story of a hard-working student and the warped way of life that made her go wacky! Virginia Madsen (Candyman, Sideways) and Richard Cox (Cruising) star in this humorous thriller about the bizarre happenings that occur in a prestigious boarding school. It seems to Andrea Miller (Madsen) that the upper-classmen act like robots. They're the perfect students – dedicated, involved and loyal. Their clothes are perfectly pressed and their hair is perfectly styled. It seems that the teachers have something to do with this ingratiating behavior. And when Andrea, the new kid at school, sees her friends turning into clones, she starts to suspect the worst. The film features a great supporting cast including Sherilyn Fenn (Twin Peaks, Ray Donovan), Scott Coffey (Mullholland Drive, Lost Highway) and Paul Feig, who would go on to create the TV series Freaks And Geeks and direct such films as Spy, Bridsmaids and the 2016 remake of Ghostbusters. - See more at: http://www.diabolikdvd.com/category/Cult-Favorites/Zombie-High-(Scream-Factory)-(DVD-%5Bsl%5D-Blu~Ray-Combo).html#sthash.xFlEVu3h.dpuf

Hammer (Blu-ray)

Hammer (1972), an early Blaxploitation film that was former American Football League defense back Fred Williamson's starring debut, doesn't have a particularly great reputation. Leonard Maltin's movie guide gives it an anemic two stars (out of four), while users of the Internet Movie Database give it a similarly tepid 4.4 out of 10 rating.
The movie is a cliché-ridden boxing yarn, reminiscent of ‘40s and ‘50s noir boxing movies like Robert Wise's great film starring Robert Ryan, The Set-Up (1949). But the clichés in fact jibe quite well with the struggles of its African-American characters and their varied desperate circumstances, lending it an authenticity usually lacking in such cheap pictures. Further, for the most part Hammer is pretty far removed from "The Hammer," Williamson's later, quietly cocky, cigar-smoking and testosterone-driven screen image. B.J. Hammer, the character he plays here, is more subtle, conflicted role. He's pretty good, and several of the supporting performances are unexpectedly excellent. All told, not a bad film at all, and quite unlike the flashier star vehicles with which Williamson is most associated.

Coffy (Blu-ray)

Whenever I think about the Pam Grier-starring string of female empowerment revenge fantasy blaxploitation flicks, I'm reminded of Chris Rock's line about being black in America: "It's like the uncle who paid your way through college, but molested you." The same can be applied to women and blaxploitation. Sure, films like Coffy presented a woman, of color no less, as an action hero taking down armies of pimps, drug dealers and other horribly misogynistic monsters, but they also exploited every female character's sexuality with juvenile abandon.
If you see any halfway attractive woman in Coffy, in the supporting cast or even as an extra, you can bet your life that her breasts will be exposed within a minute, regardless of the context of the scene. Grier herself was almost contractually obligated to show her large "assets" in every single scene, and she plays the protagonist so you do the math. No opportunity to show breasts is squandered. The infamous catfight scene is an obvious

Shao Lin men (1976)

Superkicker Dorian Tan Tao-liang plays a Shaolin student who must find a Manchu traitor responsible for the murder of the abbot. Jackie Chan is a spear fighting expert who decides to help Tan because the traitor killed his brother. Part of their mission is to help a scholar make it safely across the river without getting killed from the Manchus.
The Hand of Death aka Countdown in Kung Fu/Shao Lin Men didn't make much of an impression in 1976 but it's become something of a historical curio as it unites the Three Brothers, Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao under the direction of John Woo at the beginning of their careers. Woo even plays a supporting role. However, don't expect to see them teamed up along similar lines to later efforts like Dragons Forever or the Lucky Stars series: Sammo Hung is the villain's buck-toothed sidekick, Jackie Chan the hero's sidekick and Biao odd bit parts and a lot of stunt doubling. Instead the lead is taken by Dorian Tan, a nondescript and one-note but inoffensive lead who's better at the kicks than the acting, though Chang Chung's swordsman, the first of Woo's tragic fatalistic professional killers, compensates so admirably in that department that it's a shame his career never took off. The film is slightly above average for its time, a decidedly formulaic but more than competently staged period piece that sees yet another Manchurian despot decide to wipe out the Shaolin temple and Tan's survivor teaming up with Chan and Chung to guide a revolutionary scholar (Woo) to safety and have their revenge on James Tien's traitor. But as usual, the plot's just an excuse for a string of action sequences, here choreographed by Sammo Hung, and while they may be a long way from the Bruce Lee level they're entertaining enough to more than hold your interest en route to the grand finale battle. It's not a deathless classic but it's easily one of the best of Chan's pre-stardom movies, filling an hour-and-a-half excitingly enough without outstaying its welcome.

Hardgore (1974)

A nymphomaniac goes to a sanitarium in hopes of being cured; it turns out the sanitarium is a front for a Satanic cult luring young women into a web of madness, torture, and sex... But mostly just sex.

"Hardgore/Horror Whore" is a curious mixture between hardcore porn and gore movie, filmed in the 1970s, when the film makers still had inspirations and a sense for the grotesque. The story is about a young girl who´s taken to a private clinic where the female patients are forced to take part at satanic sex orgies. However, afterwards they all get killed violently by the doctors and the attendants... Indeed a strange flick, but interesting to watch and very entertaining!

The whole film has sometimes a very psychedelic feeling, like a trip on drugs, and director Michael Hugo did a great job with creating a nightmarish atmosphere! Especially the dream-sequence when the main actresses is fizzed all over with the sperm of three rocket dicks is the climax of the whole film! And such nasty killing scenes like an orgasm-beheading or a cut off dick enhance "Hardgore" over the usual porn standard and bring it almost on the level of a Joe D´Amato movie!
