Director Adamson and producer Sam Sherman weren't afraid to make a film, edit footage out and then edited stuff in just in order to make it sell. If you go through their work together you'll see several examples where they make a movie, it doesn't sell so they add something in to make it a drive-in hit. That's the case here as they delivered a "naughty" nurse type film but then decided to add in more horror elements, ala CARRIE and the end result was pure gold at the box office. Originally released with more horror elements, the latest DVD offers the long lost "adult" version, which features more nudity and that's the version I watched.
The story is pretty simple as a Satan-cult leader dies and soon his evil spirit enters the body of Nurse Sherri (Jill Jacobson). Soon this nice woman starts murdering various doctors in the hospital but thankfully a black football player, in the hospital after going blind somehow, had a grandmother who was into voodoo so with the help of his nurse (Marilyn Joi) he knows how to stop Sherri. OK, this is a very, very bad movie that features bad acting, bad directing, a bad screenplay and even an overall bad look. If you're a fan of Al Adamson then you know he made all sorts of crazy pictures so if you enjoyed something like Dracula VS. FRANKENSTEIN or any number of his blaxploitation flicks, then you might find yourself mildly entertained by this thing after you break through everything that's wrong with the picture. What does work is the overall camp value, which is quite high as we get nudity coming up in spots where it's not needed, a silly subplot where the murders are just downright dumb and make no sense and even dumber items like the entire football player subplot. Adamson mixes so many genres here that there are times that you feel as if you're watching three different movies but this is part of the charm. The sexploitation nature of the film is pretty good as we get several sex scenes and various scenes of nudity with the attractive female cast. Joi is best known for her roles in COFFY, THE NAUGHTY STEWARDESSESS and ILSA, HAREM KEEPER OF THE OIL SHEIKS. She's certainly easy on the eyes and isn't afraid to take it off. Jacobson at least has a hot body to make up for her lack of acting skills but it doesn't help matters that the "possessed" voice is downright horrendous and guaranteed to make the biggest stiff in the world laugh. The horror elements of the film are rather weak and they're so bad that you have to wonder why the producer even tried anything with them.
Again, if you're not a fan of bad cinema then it's best to stay far away from this turkey. Fans of trash will want to check this out even with Adamson's bad pacing.
